Intentionally causing non-payments to increase their interest payouts on Personal Loans
I've had an outstanding loan with FNB and have been attempting to pay, every month on the 1st I would transfer payment from my day-to-day account to my loan.
Some months, payment goes through other months it is automatically rejected. I have attempted to sort the matter out with FNB, however, the only response I get is that the loan account is no longer being monitored but I still have to pay.
No rhyme or reason is given to why the payment rejects on certain months. Furthermore, I had a credit check done and according to my credit rating, every single payment on the loan, over the last three years was not counted and stated as "nonpayment", negatively affecting my credit rating.
Again, they do not bother to monitor or rectify this, keeping quiet as a church mouse, even when I ask why I have a low credit rating or a bad debtor marking on my account, no straight answer is ever given.
I had also attempted to settle the loan, and even though I had paid the interest and majority of the loan in full, they refused to give me a discount on the loan.
Today I receive a call from ARA stating that I've been handed over for non-payment on my loan. They themselves offered me a discount, however, it will also negatively impact my credit rating.
I am unable to apply for even a cellphone contract of R 250 p/m. As a director of a company, I am unable to get finance for anything due to this issue and have to use my company to afford anything credit related. Which, at the end of the day does not help me as I cannot build up my credit rating with everything running through the business.
I am appalled at the level of service and the direct mistreatment of their clients, intentionally, creating a bad credit score under my name. I refuse to accept any consolation that they are "willing" to offer and will be taking my personal accounts and business accounts to a new bank where I am treated as a valuable client.
I have brought this matter through to the financial ombud and regulatory service (PS, they don't even tell you or give you details regarding the fact that there is a regulatory body that you can use to handle disputes impartially - way to go on informing people of their right to dispute issues with the bank!)
No communication regarding my loan, no assistance from any of the call centers, not a single ounce of authenticity or truth... all in the name of funding their dreams of becoming a massive conglomerate to rival the likes of Discovery, but at the same time failing miserably as I am aware of the amount of business they lose because of issues like this.
This is just a warning for anybody attempting to secure finance from FNB, please only use them as a last resort and rather go with another bank.
