INSURANCE DEBARCLE

I recently moved my insurance over to FNB given that I bank with them and had heard good reports from others about their service. HOWEVER, that seems not to be the case. My issues with them started a month ago after the big rains on the 27th of Feb . I had an earth leakage issue and called them to ask if it was covered by my insurance - and they said yes and would send out an electrician. I had isolated the issue to the out-buildings but didn't know where the issue was. The electrician came to my house (regrettably I couldn't be there) and unplugged an electrical box in my garage and said he had fixed the problem and left. When I got home an hour later and realized what he had done and called him straight away to say that my gates were still not getting power and none of my out buildings because all he had done was unplug the electrical box. To which he said it was not his problem as he'd already left. I then called FNB to say that the problem had not been fixed and to please send someone out. They then sent a "motor" repair company who wouldn't fix anything as it needed an electrician. This was on the Friday, so I called again and said please to send an electrician out - I was assured someone would contact me on the Friday, I heard nothing Friday, Saturday or Sunday - I called Monday (all the time my gates are on manual and I have no outside lights which is a major risk to me and my family) and was told the same thing - that someone would contact me ASAP - no one called monday, I called on the Tuesday - same thing - STILL no one called. Eventually on Wednesday I got my own electrician and my own motor repair company out. Eventually the following Saturday the 8th of March I get a call from someone from FNB. I told them I had repaired it - the cost was more than expected because the batteries had run so flat that they were no longer chargable and had to be replaced and that the mother board needed to be replaced. I sent through all my documents and POP's to FNB and they said on it falls under "surge" and therefore will only cover a VERY small portion of it. It wasn't a surge that killed my batteries it was the fact that they took over 7 days to get someone out to look at the gate and that their electrician didn't do the job he was suppose to do on the first day I called. I then complained about it and said I would like to talk to a manager and the guy handling my case said his manager would call as he had handed over the case to him. That was on the 20th and to this day I still haven't heard from anyone at FNB. I am currently looking for alternative insurance options as I cannot believe the FNB left me and my family completely vulnerable for so many days even after multiple calls and then still wouldn't cover the damage. Absolutely shocking service from a provider that I held in high regard.
