Incorrect Card Leads to High Bank Charges

In Mar/Apr 2015 I reported an unauthorized transaction on my account and was advised by the call centre agent to cancel the card and they would issue me with a new card. I also had to make use of a temp card that would expire in a month, for which I also paid.

I received an incorrect card (for a personal cheque account that I was not using anymore) and because the other card now expired I was forced to transfer money into the old Cheque account and use the debit card. This lead to high charges which I was not aware of as I was also not receiving statements and I was never made aware of the fee structure of this account. I was not using the account anymore. I later found that a POS transaction of e.g. R10 cost me R20 in charges.

I contacted FNB with regard to this and was advised I should have monitored my statements (which I was not receiving on the specific account). They tried to contact me twice but I was unable to take the call at the time. I emailed them requesting a copy of the recording to submit to the ombudsman explaining that they were the cause of this whole mess by issuing an incorrect card and I have not received any response since.
