Inconvenience caused

I was sold a 32 notice account and a stop order was set up. On the requested date the stop order did not go through due to an error. I requested to close off the account and was advised to send my ID and signature for verification. When i asked if I could do this over the phone I was told I could but when I called the number provided I was asked to contact another number. Why couldn't someone phone me to confirm the request was from me. Why should I have to do that because I provided my ID number, contact details and emailed the request my the registered email address on,the system. I do not have a printer and it will cost to make a copy, scan and email the ID. I was not asked for this when the account was open. I request that the account be closed immediately.
