Incompetence doesn’t begin to explain FNB’s treatment towards me
My story began in July. I received funds from a friend, who was implicated in a ***** case at Capitec (Which he was later cleared from). Capitec escalated the case over to FNB and following that, FNB assigned Lunga Bottoman to investigate.
He proceeded to notify me of the investigation logged into my account and requested information on my part as to why I was receiving the money, which I did. I waited for him to get back to me and ask questions (investigate). He never did, instead, I am the one that tried to get a hold of him in order to find out why he was quite and what was happening with the case (this too wasn’t easy as he doesn’t take or return calls).
I eventually did get a hold of him (almost 2 weeks following the commencement of the investigation), and this was the first time he ever asked me questions pertaining to the case. I asked what has he been investigating during all the time the case has been in process and this became the basis for a huge argument between the two of us. I had to question his position as an investigator because, according to my understanding, an investigator is supposed to make contact with both parties to find out what is happening, but it wasn’t so with this case and I was in appropriate capacity to question the proceedings of the investigation as I was a respondent and I was kept in the dark.
Anyways, he then proceeded to conclude that my bank accounts be terminated (my relationship with the bank terminated) as I posed a risk to the relationship, which I had no objection to but needed answers as to what was going to happen to the credit I have with FNB, which he said he would communicate with me in die course.
Today, about a month since our last talk and termination of all my account, I still haven’t heard from him and I had to go through hours of branch visits to resolve issues of my credit with the bank.
Today, I have more questions than answers and every time I call in, they keep insisting they will notify him to give me a call. Even though I keep telling the consultants, he is NEVER going to call me, they keep saying he is the only one with the answers I need.
My biggest question is this. For a big bank like FNB, how is it possible that one person can make a decision about a client’s account and be the only one with the answers about what happens next. I need my money back, somebody needs to give me answers about this issues. I don’t believe Lunga is the only one with the answers I need. Just like he has a family to feed in doing this job, I also have my own family and issues I need handled and the money in those accounts is a HUGE inconvenience.
