In another country with NO Money and NO help from First National Bank. The rating can not be lower than I would like to rate.

Afternoon

Please advise. I am in Uganda and have no funds available. My FNB ATM card is not working with the ATM giving an error message stating that my bank has declined the transaction. I informed your Bay West Branch in Port Elizabeth in person before departing as per FNB's procedures. However I now find myself in a very unfavourable situation. I contacted the Forrex department at +/- 18h15 Uganda time (17h15 RSA time )I was then informed via recording that the office hours were from 08h00 to 17h00. If then called the telephone banking division and after a lengthly security check I was informed that I need to go to a branch and request that my international services be activated. I explained to the call center operator that I was in Uganda and I did this all before I left. She then told me that it did not reflect on the system and there was nothing more that could be done. I then informed the call center operator that I had no money and that this was no fault of my doing yet I am being penalised due to FNB,s incompetence. At this point the call went dead.

I then called again and asked to speak to the supervisor and again after a lengthly frustrating security check I was patched through to the supervisor. Again after a more lengthly security check and further frustration I was informed that there was nothing that could be done.

Why can FNB not release my money which I own which I worked for after I informed them that I was leaving the country and was assured that evething was in order I find myself with no money. I have verified myself through ample security checks please contact me urgently and release my funds. I was assured that the FNB international branch would contact me today. I am still waiting.

This is the most unprofessional service I have ever experienced. How would you feel if you were in the same situation. After assurance that everything was in order.

Regards
Grant Allwright (email sent to FNB)

Morning After a lengthly battle, my account has finally been sorted out as of yesterday 25 May 2016 at +/- 14h00 (RSA time 13h00). I am able to draw money with the final outcome being that my limit had not been set at the Bay West Mall Branch after I had requested this. Why this was never communicated from the get go I will not know. That being said I would like to thank Wayne (I do not know his surname) and Melinda Duvenhage for getting this all done. Hopefully FNB has learnt from this and train their staff to deal with sensative issues like this as a priority. Being in another country with little to no funds is daunting and extremely stressfull. The last word you need to hear from a call center agent and Siupervisor is "There is nothing we can do for you." I beg to differ, there is always an option and always a solution. Next time put yourself in the shoes of the person that is living the situation and dont say "I know what you are going through" Unless you have lived the situation. This is coming from experience as I have just lived it. In conclusion. Thank you for all the effort that has been put in to resolve this rather simple issue Regards Grant Allwright
