ID CARD PUBLICITY STUNT

I had the most horrible experience with FNB Lifestyle Centurion on Friday, 06 September 2024. After many years of sticking to the old green ID book, my wife and I decided to apply for new ID cards and because we both bank with FNB, we decided to do it via FNB in Centurion. So, I went online, registered on the portal of the Dept of Home Affairs and made a booking to go do our new ID card applications. During the application they asked me at which branch of FNB we would like to go do our IDs and I chose FNB in Centurion. Our appointment was for Friday afternoon on 6 September 2024 at 14:00 - 15:00. I took time off work, drove through to Centurion from Hartbee****rt, arrived at FNB, just to be told by a person sitting playing on his computer no, you have to go to the main branch near the Gautrain station. Off we pickled to the main branch, just to be told they don't do ID cards, we must go back to the Lifestyle branch. I was not in a good mood at this stage. Arriving at the Lifestyle branch again, I was told by an employee no, ID cards have nothing to do with us, that is the business of the Dept of Home Affairs and I was directed back to the same person sitting playing on his computer. The place was empty, no customers around. I confronted the person and he said to me no, he told me to go to the main branch of the Dept of Home Affairs next to the Gautrain station not FNB. Only now did it become clear to me that this person was from the Dept and they were sitting inside the FNB branch. I asked him why he couldn't help me with my ID application, and he said no, I made an appointment at the main branch of the Dept, which is nonsense because I specifically asked for FNB Centurion. Be that as it may, putting aside my time and petrol spent, how can FNB tell me this has nothing to do with them? How can they advertise all over the show that if you are an FNB customer you can apply for your ID card through them and when you get there, they tell you it has nothing to do with them!! The Dept of Home Affairs is sitting inside their branch, and they are pulling up their shoulders!! I am disgusted to be part of such an institution, I am closing all of my accounts with FNB, you are using the whole ID card application thing as a publicity stunt!!!
