I have had it - I am out
In the past month I have moved money through FNB in excess of R 200 000, them taking profit from each and every transaction.
Yesterday morning I discovered that my credit card is over limit, after the previous night reporting that I still had R 381 available, this while trying to get an Uber to work. Yesterday afternoon I phoned to find out how it is possible that I went from R 381 available (R 4619 into my credit) to more than R 6000 overdrawn. The lady could not explain to me how that happened, referring back to Uber and Udemy transactions, which I did and the balance did reflect the transactions as they went off my account. She then transferred me to he "supervisor" upon my request. Thuli then informed me that she is not her supervisor, but that all the supervisors are in a meeting (how the hell is that possible or even reasonable practice if it did happen). After a length discussion Thuli could not explain to me in simple English how the was possible, implying that either she could not understand English or that maybe I do not understand her English. I then asked to be helped in Afrikaans, since Afrikaans is my mother tongue and maybe I need someone to assist me in Afrikaans (the Constitution does guarantee me the right to request that, as far as I remember). She then transferred my call and then the call was cut off. I made no repayment arrangement or even said that I would, or when, repay the amount.
This morning I received an SMS, which read: The full promised amt on your Credit Card was not received as agreed for 2018/12/04. Kindly make the pmt or call ********** 847. DiscoveryCard issued by FRB Ltd. *sic
As stated before, I have made no repayment arrangements at all.
I then phoned ********** 847 this morning, speaking to Tahira, who is able to answer my query in Afrikaans. She then went on to explain that it is transactions dating back to 29 November that were only actioned on the morning of 4 December. I then asked her, as a "valued" client of FNB why the following two actions did not happen: 1. I expect a call as soon as it became known to the back that my account was overdrawn, 2. Them requesting if they may increase my credit facility to accommodate the amount overdrawn, even if it is just till the end of the month. She answered that "we tried to phone you this morning at 7:56" *sic. I then told her that I received the above SMS at 8:04 and there are no incoming calls registered on my phone. She was adamant that they did try, stating that according to her that is sufficient.
This is what FNB did in response to my account being overdrawn: 1. According to them they left a voice message the previous day (according to them, it as acceptable as due diligence). 2. They cancelled my credit facility, and 3. They expect me to pay the outstanding amount immediately 4. This morning they deducted R 421.99 from my account (without my consent) to service the debt
I am sick and tired of the poor service I am getting. I am closing all my accounts.
