How protected are you as a FNB client

Two week ago I become a victim by a client selling items under false pretence on a valid company name and FNB bank account. I was done in with a R4500.

The bank account was as follows : ***
Obviously no idiots as the universal FNB branch code was used.
The moment I found out I had been done in I contacted the bank to freeze the account. I was held so long on the phone that by the time the account was placed on hold all funds were draw out.

We decided to inquire about the item we wish to buy again that's advertised on Gumtree from a different phone number and name.. Given the same bull of the special and limited time we requested the banking details again.
Low and behold it turns out to be another FNB account with the universal branch code.

My question is , if FNB interests is what they claim on adverts to be towards for their clients safe banking , How are these people being screened when the accounts are opened. Myself, a working class individual have to validate my existence with a stream line of documents to open a simple account. My question, then how do these frausters bypass this thorough screening that FNB claims to have in place. You be the judge.
