How FNB ********** my Son
My son's FNB card was debited with an unauthorised R7000 foreign online debit several months ago in a card not present transaction, FNB said they would investigate but of course they came back and simply refused to recover the funds and pay back. So we cancelled the card and they issued a new card.
This month another foreign company debited him with R4700 in another online card not present transaction. On investigation it turns out that in spite of FNB replacing the old credit card and reporting the ***** they simply forgot to cancel the old card and thus the debit went through anyway. Of course FNB investigated but cannot see what they have done wrong. Really??
So what is the point of cancelling a credit card at FNB if it is able to stay live and is linked to your new card? FNB I now want the R7000 and the R4700, you guys have a responsibility to your card holders to protect them from online ***** and card not present transaction where you are able to recover 100% back from the merchant that committed the ***** through Visa.
If your customer cancels a credit card at FNB it is not an unrealistic expectation to expect the bank to actually follow the instruction and protect the account holder from future ***** on the old card.
