How Does a Bank ‘Forget’ an Approved Loan? FNB Did.
On 27 October 2025 I app**** for a consolidation loan, and an additional amount as i need it urgently for medical expenses. The consultant phoned me, loan was approved and said it will be paid out after 24-48 hours. I accepted the debicheck. After two days and no money, I phoned FNB. They said the loan is in "processing". After following up multiple times, they told me it is at the KYC department. Phoned them multiple times and they kept on requesting more and more documentation. On the 6th of November was my last communication received from them. Lying in the hospital after my surgery, I phoned them today on 10 November 2025, and was informed that her colleague must have forgotten to push the button. Okay cool, i stayed calm. Everything is now sorted with KYC. Transferred BACK to loan department - THERE IS NO ACTIVE APPLICATION! I have to apply AGAIN! I apply again, and gets approved for 50k less, not wanting the loan anymore cause it wont cover what is needed for medical expenses. I have sooo many friends that told me to move over to FNB, but after this experience I wont even advise it to my worst enemy.
