How CAN'T we help...
Worst service ever, exploiting people who are already struggling.
I went under debt review in December 2015. After noticing that I became more indebted I settled all my outstanding accounts. I phoned the FNB call center in August 2018 and was told that I can only pay the money into my accounts and they will then close automatically. I also made the payments in August 2018. I went to FNB Dynarc Walk a few months later and the accounts were still open. I asked the consultant to close them and she sent an email to have it done. This happened again a few months later as the accounts were still open. I never received any correspondence from FNB. My email address never changed. After getting a credit report recently (I'd like to try and qualify for a home loan) the accounts were still open. Now with more than R5800 of incurred monthly account fees. I went to Dynark Walk again a month ago, spoke to the manager who had someone email them again. During this last month I returned to the branch 3 times again only to hear that they did not get a response yet or that the lady who works with it is in training.
The accounts should have been closed years ago as I was promised by the call center. The fact that no one can make a call and get it done wastes my time. I refuse to settle the accounts again, why after all this time did they not go dormant? I am also unable to call any call center because I need to verify on the FNB app. I am no longer an FNB client in my mind, why would I have the app?!?!?! I also can't ever phone the branch as their number never works and need to take time off work to go there and hear that they have no update for me.
Please FNB, this whole situation is unacceptable. Your slogan "How can we help" is such a joke
Update - They closed my cheque account on 26 March after my complaint (thanks Sandra & Eunice at FNB Dynarc Walk).
BUT,
Now suddenly FNB has no record of me ever phoning the call centre in 2018 and I must now prove that I called years later. I asked the lady where else I would have gotten the exact settlement amounts for my other two accounts. I told them to work out how much the settlements would have been in August 2018 and they said that they can't do that. Am I expecting too much from a bank to do some accounting? If the settlements corresponds to the payments I made it should prove that I got the settlements from them.
Anyway, she sent and email to her team leader and I am waiting for a reply (***)
I'd love to see the statements for the accounts. Statements that I have never received, not even while the accounts were active.
I have worked extremely hard to get myself out of my over indebtedness. I've paid what I owed and I'm finally ready and financially secure enough to buy my first house. FNB is the only one standing in the way, hindering me to start the next steps in my life.

Really FNB? Am I so unimportant?
Next stop, banking ombudsman.
