How can we ***** up helping you?

I had the miserable misfortune of having to go into an FNB branch in the CBD of Cape Town today to attempt to get some change for my cash register. Yes... there are still some people who have cash points in their businesses and Yes... there is still some cash in circulation which is used on a daily basis. Surprise! My first visit was to Long Street branch where there was a line of six or seven people standing there like sheep waiting for their one and only teller who was "NOT THERE TODAY!" Their customers were sent to Adderley Street branch. I arrived at Adderley St branch to find a line of between twenty and thirty sheep standing and waiting for one of their TWO tellers on duty. I called for management as I was, quite simply, not going to stand in a line for close to an hour to change a couple of hundred Rand into tens and twentys. I was informed by the manager, who couldn't have been nicer or more apologetic, that this was an ongoing situation and that two tellers is all that this main branch has been allocated. Shame on you FNB!!! There are still ordinary people out there who need and deserve a decent physical banking service. You have successfully made a visit to a branch into an unpleasant, traumatic and exasperating experience and have the gall to pound us with your "How Can We Help You" rhetoric. Its an absolute disgrace! I suggest to you that you spend a little less on your excessive, extravagant and repetitive advertising on television and everywhere else and concentrate on focusing your energy and considerable financial muscle on customer service and satisfaction! Shame on you FNB!!!

This kind of generic, mindless and robotic response does nothing to assuage the ongoing frustration experienced when visiting your branches. Lets have more action and less palliative rhetoric please! Remember your catch phrase..."How Can We Help You"... Well, perhaps you should try THAT!
