How can we NOT help you?

I am in the process of financial emigration. As required by law, I must close my bank accounts in South Africa. I contacted FNB to have this completed. First I was told that I would have to go into a branch to do so. I then further explained that I am currently residing overseas, so could not do so and politely asked whether there was any way I could be helped as surely this is not the first time that a customer of FNB as had to do this? I got this response:

Kindly be advised that due to nature of your request we unable to cancel nor close the account imminently on email, however the account is currently inactive and debits are not allowed to account. Please note your account will be dormant should it be inactive for a period of 3 months, Therefore the system automatically abolish it of the FNB network.

Firstly FNB, as a learning opportunity, could you teach your consultants the correct use of English!!! This email is absolutely shocking.

Secondly, I cannot believe that after 2 attempts of explaining my situation, which I am sure is not unique, that I am brushed off in such a way. FNB how can you help me?
