Honoring fees

Made a purchase at a fast food outlet on 19/06/2021 The transaction went through successfully and the goods were given to me Naturally my account was reduced with R122 for this purchase The merchant then went to collect the deposit on 23/06/2021 and this went through successfully as well

I was shocked to see that I have been charged R154 as an honoring fee because the agents explained that FNB had to make the payment on my behalf I went to enquire with FNB as to how the available balance was somehow used by myself if indeed my normal balance had been reduced by this payment

I honestly did not get a satisfactory response as the funds were there in the day on the purchase otherwise the merchant would've declined and the goods wouldn't be dispatched

So how is it that I should be charged R154 for a R122 transaction when in fact, the funds should've been held aside as usual by the bank for the merchant to claim Why am I being **** to about FNB having to honor my payment when the transaction went through successfully on the date of purchase and the funds were no longer available for me

I have spent a frustrating 1 and a half hours explaining this to the following individuals in your business banking suite;Darryl and Mathibele. The first referred me to prices for deposits and hang up before I could ask questions about what I had to read The second was telling me how I could spend both the available balance and normal balance on my account which is questionable

I was finally told that maybe I need to go into a branch over something that FNB created internally

As youth led businesses, every center counts and this dubious practice of not checking your system functions coupled with extremely high fees and poor service especially from agents, really means we are looking for more reliable banking partners with which we hope to grow

This is rather ridiculous and not deserving of almost 2 hours of anyone's time
