Goodbye, FNB! Why the Once-Prestigious Bank is Bleeding Clients
We have issues with MULTIPLE departments in FNB, so this alone should tell you what the extent of the deterioration is.
So, what is going on at FNB?! No one seems competent to do or fix anything, and they just send you from one person to the next. And if I have to hear their generic and scripted "we apologise for the inconvenience" one more time without actually being able to take action and rectify the situation, I feel like there's a good chance that my head might explode.
In all seriousness, one simply cannot believe that upstanding clients can experience so many issues in such a short span of time. In the last month alone, I accepted 2 PRE-APPROVED offers only to be told that the documentation by a professional accountant and as submitted to and accepted by SARS is not acceptable to my bank and I actually don't make the amount I claim I do (and this from the people who literally have access to all my financial statements and which they based their pre-approved offers on!). So, now I've stopped even taking notice of any offers. My husband's business account has been blocked from withdrawing any funds for MONTHS now. First, they told him it's a FICA problem. After submitting his documentation over and over and OVER again, they finally came to the conclusion that it's actually a technical issue - even after about 3 "escalation" emails, absolutely nothing has been done. As a cherry on top, I woke up to a message this morning threatening me with legal action if I don't pay my outstanding debit amount. There was absolutely no reason why FNB couldn't debit the amount as usual, so now I'm sitting with an undeserved note on my credit score and - you guessed it - another "escalated" email that will take 3 to 4 business days to respond. And that private advisor I pay extra for every month? She's literally just a middleman. Instead of speaking to the Credit department directly, I speak to her only for her to tell me she can't assist and will have to speak to credit (cue the email AGAIN). And it's also clearly not only us who feel this way. I recently had a sales call from FNB trying to sell me yet another FNB product. When I declined, quoting our current terrible experiences, the salesperson just sighed quite dejectedly and admitted that he's really been struggling because people are telling him the same things on these calls over and over again!
FNB makes SO much money out of us every month, yet this is the treatment we're getting. We are looking into moving absolutely all our accounts over to another bank at this point, because FNB is proving itself to be completely useless! If you're thinking of joining FNB, think twice - they're really not the bank they were 10 years ago.
