Frozen Funds
My Name: Zodwa Cele
My ID No: 710 ********** 08 0
My contact Number: **********
a) I was involved in a motor vehicle accident in 2012 and lodged an RAF claim assisted by attorneys:
Rajah Pillay Attorneys
Suite 1203
12th floor Durdoc Centre
460 Smith Street
Durban 4001
**********
b) My claim was finalized in 2014 and Rajah Pillay Attorney paid me in February 2014 in two cheques – 1. Cheque for R20 000.00 and 2. Cheque for +/- R 576 000.00. I could not immediately deposit the cheques because I had a problem with my ID document.
c) My cheques went missing while I was busy trying to sort my ID problem out.
d) As soon as I realized that my cheques had gone missing I contacted Mr Pillay – Rajah Pillay Attorneys
e) I think he immediately contacted the bank informing them that my cheques had gone missing and Mr Pillay enquired if I had finished with Home Affairs regarding my ID. I told him that I had not finished, he then told to try and sort that out and come back to him.
f) I ultimately got my ID from Home Affairs on the 15th of June 2015 and immediately informed Mr Pillay. Mr Pillay suggested that I open account with FNB so that my money would be transferred into it and I did.
g) It was only then that I was made aware that my lost cheques had been deposited into an FNB account that had been frozen. Initially FNB never corresponded with me because they only recognized Mr Pillay from whose trust account the cheques originated.
h) Immediately after that Mr Pillay would forward me all correspondence he was conducting with FNB because he needed for me to understand that the money was still in the hands of FNB.
i) From thereon I learnt that two suspects had been arrested and until the court case is finalized the money shall remain frozen at FNB.
j) After numerous e-mail correspondence with amongst other:
1. Mr Ntlanganiso Fana
2. Ms Fadeela Thompson
3. Ms Nazley Sallie
4. Mr David Lokisang Tloti
5. Mr Marcus Ramotlou
6. Mr Jonas Hanyana to date.
k) On the 16th of February 2017 or thereabout Mr Hanyana instructed me to go to the nearest FNB branch. I then went to the Musgrave Centre branch of FNB accompanied by a relative Mr Nhlanhla Chiya who has been helping me all along this whole process.
l) At FNB Musgrave Mr Hanyane asked us to get their landline number and then called the branch manager. He directed them on what to do and had a telephone conversation on a loudspeaker both with us and the staff of FNB. All my particulars including my FNB account, my finger prints, copy of my ID card were taken.
m) Mr Hanyana then promised that in a few days I would be contacted by SAPS officers from Durban and people from FNB forensics who will finalize the whole process of releasing my money. I have waited since then. Now everytime Mr Chiya calls him on my behalf just to get an update he says he is busy in a meeting and will come back to us but never does.
About a month ago I was advised to address my matter to both Mr Ramdeen and Mr Samsawa for their attention. They both acknowledged receipt of my matter but have since totally failed to either help or at least update me about the progress on the matter.
Last week someone suggested that I should address my displeasure for the attention of the CEO - Ms I Van Zyl and the respond I received was from R B Jacobs reading:
"Hi Zodwa Thank you for your mail. This matter was referred to the relevant team for assistance"
I humbly request that Hellopeter assist me in this matter otherwise my dream of having a house of my own with my children is just pipe dream.
NB: Money in my account is in excess of half a million rands.
Warm regards
Ms Zodwa Cele
