From "How can we help you?", to "Could we rather not help you?"

To say that I'm angry or upset would be an understatement. This has been the last straw...

FNB has outright **** to me and I have proof.

On their "in contact" communication they informed me that " I have not been using my credit card enough lately and it's expiring which is why they won't be sending me a new one. However I'll still be able to make purchases online using my virtual card"...

However! They then proceeded to order and authorise a new card for me anyway!

So I cancelled it! Based on what they told me I don't need a physical card and I'm on a business trip with which means I won't be able to accept it any time soon. But now today I need the funds on my credit card and attempted to transfer it only to find out it was not allowed ONLY because I don't have a physical card linked with my credit account! However, I could still make payments with my virtual card to PayPal, which is what I did in order to action a fast transfer to my wife (since we needed the funds urgently!) How does that make sense?! I can transact and transfer money to a foreign bank account, but not my own FNB account? How could anymore with half a brain think something like that is a good idea?!

This has to by far be the most senseless feature ever! FNB has finally regressed to the point where they are the new "Standard Bank" in terms of low quality features! I'm addition to this they have actually been taking away value from customers and removing features like "tap to pay". A feature that has personally come in handy on multiple occasions when I forgot my wallet at home!

In addition to this I have not forgotten the bait and switch tactics they used on Black Friday 2023.

I will be contacting my private banker and requesting the closure of two of my accounts tomorrow (both being investment accounts) My funds are clearly not safe with FNB ...

As soon as I return to South Africa I fully intend to close all my accounts and move to a bank that's more reliable.
