Freezing accounts without any notification
The Public Benefit Organisation I work for has been banking with FNB for at least 30 years. Yesterday I wished to make payments from our trust's current account and effect a transfer from the money market account only to find that both accounts had been frozen. Calls, first to my branch then to the dedicated call centre set up apparently to deal with the freezing of business accounts, revealed that we are required to submit a copy of our constitution as well as IDs and proof of residence for our three signatories.

Obviously the bank has all these already or we would not have been operating normally. If they require them again all they have to do is ask. I have received no requests, no notifications, no warnings, in spite of the call centre confirming that they have our correct contact phone numbers and email address. How can you just arbitrarily freeze accounts of long standing reliable customers, or any customers for that matter, without a word of warning? Shocking service!
