***** on Credit card ... and I'm held liable?!
On the 28th of March, I woke up to a few very unwelcome FNB notifications. In a matter of a few hours, there appeared transactions of close to R32000 at places ranging from Sandton to Hillcrest. I reported the transactions immediately, and subsequently the card were blocked ... good thing, cause they tried to spend some more during the day. I did notify my bank that I am overseas, which makes the ********** nature of these transactions even more obvious. This is now 2 and a half weeks later ... FNB came back with this reply: After careful consideration of your claim, we regret to inform you that we are not in a position to accept the loss of R 29,681.90 . We unfortunately have no alternative but to hold you liable for the transaction debited to the credit card account since the original chip card and pin was used to perform this transaction. The transaction took place on the 27 March 2019.
.... How funny is that ... I am sitting in NZ with the card in my posession ... have not been in RSA since Jan 2019.
not to mention how anybody is able to do transactions in bryanston and hillcrest with a card at the same time.
Well done FNB ... I will be closing all my accounts with you!!
