***** DEPARTMENT AND CONSULTANTS SHOULD BE TRAINED PROPERLY.
I am a private bank client at FNB. I have been with them for about 15 years already. In February 2020 I went to the Willowbridge branch to open a savings account for my son. Because he was underage the consultant suggested I open one in my own name with minimal transactions and let him use that card. He will have no access to my main cheque account. I especially did not want the accounts to be linked. That was the instruction i gave the consultant. Now just over a year I discover that they did in fact link my cards and whomever I gave my minimal savings account to had access to my private client cheque account all this time. date 31/05/2021 I gave that card to my 70 year old mom to use as back up for when her government pension runs out and she needed money for the month. Transfered every month R2000 rand in there. for the past 6 months already. she went to an atm on monday and was assisted by an official at the bank working the atm machines. helping the elderly with their transactions. it was a standard bank atm in the parow center mall. the card was swallowed and the official told her to report it inside the bank. which she did. ********s was outside the bank and took her card . did fnb investigate all this. NO. did they ask the bank for video footage to confirm my story. NO. did i lose almost 15000 rand. YES. if you lose your card and transactions goes off your account you are seen as NEGLIGENT by fnb. that was my response from the bank. they will not refund me even though it took them 48hrs to come to that decision which tells me that they didnt lift a finger to even investigate the matter. how is it possible that ********** could access my private bank account and fnb calls me negligent. they are negligent by not providing the service that i asked them to do. why would i give anyone access to my private bank account. no one would but apparently i signed for the cards to be linked. a account I pay R5 a month for must be linked to my private account that i pay almost R300 for. in light of all this I am taking this matter to the ombudsman for banking and letting them deal with FNB I will also be closing all my accounts at FNB and starting a fresh account somewhere else. because there is no loyalty at this bank to its long standing clients. disgusted and emotionally traumatised by FNB.
