***** case declined because the ***** "obtained" pin code
<p>My husband and I drew money from an FNB ATM on the 27/10/2016 and the ATM did not return my card after the money was disbursed to us. Since my offices are not even 5 minutes away, i decided to go to my offices and stop my card via online banking. Not even 5 mintues later R2700.00 was withdrawn from my account at an ABSA ATM. I immediately logged onto my online banking and stopped my card. I proceeded to phone the ***** department. The person sent me the documents to fill in, which i did and emailed the document straight away. I received an email this morning advising me that FNB are not responsible and will not be returning the money to my account. I phoned the ***** department and I was told the reason for the decline is because I have a chip card and the ***** would have needed to have "obtained" my pin code in order to withdraw the money - this is thier reasoning for not giving my money back that someone stole. Considering what is happening in this country regarding theft of cards and pin codes i.e. cloning of the card and fitting of mechanisms to the ATMs, I cannot believe that FNB is basically saying that i happily handed my pin code out to a *****, so they are not liable. I have logged a complaint with FNB Care; in saying this I advised the lady that if this is not sorted out and if my money is not returned to my account I will be taking this to the Ombudsman, as FNB have clearly forgotten the meaning of the term, ' what would the reasonable man have done'</p>

Good Day,
Upon receiving an email advising me that you have still declined my ***** case, which you are now calling a "deadlock status", I will be submitting my complaint to the Ombudsman tomorrow morning.
