*****, But by who?????

On the 3 rd of January 2023 at 04h00 in the morning i realized that there has been R 28100 taken from my account, i reported the case to the ***** line at 04h30 and got a reply with a reference number at 04h47.

By then all the transactions was still pending, within a couple of days 2 transactions was reversed into my account but obviously fnb took some kind of a fee as not the full amounts was paid back, for what i still dont know, after a huge struggle to get feedback from them, i finally got a email stating that FNB will not pay back the money as it was not a failure on their side or systems. Funny why did they then reverse two of the payments. And normally when your virtual card gets used you have to approve the transaction on your app. If i buy R 500 worth of food at mr D Food i have to approve the transaction but no need to do so when you spend R 28000.

I then referred the case to the Ombudsman for Banking Services, who send back the case to FNB which then rep**** as follows, they see i was a victim of a ******** activity and agreed that it was a ********** transactions, but still stuck with their systems did not fail, they then tried bully me into a settlement amount of R 8500 as a gesture of good faith and because of our long relationship and forced me to sign a non disclosure agreement. I was only given 5 working days to sign the letter and be done with the whole ordeal and kiss my money away. I then approached my lawyer, who the suggested that i request a detailed summery on how they came to the settlement amount, that was on the 5 th day of the 5 i had. I never got anything back from them and on the next business day i received a letter which said the following:” FNB wishes to express its deepest regret that you fell victim to this ********** activity as well as for any distress you may have suffered as a result“ “ While a compensation payment will not be considered based on the events that lead to your loss, FNB has reviewed the matter and based strictly on our relationship with you, FNB had offered you an ex-gratia payment of R 8,500.00 as a gesture of goodwill which you have declined. FNB regrets that we have been unable to find a solution together.”

I still to this day havent approved or declined any settlements, as im still waiting for a summary of how they got to the settlement amount.

As a Private Clients account holder i spend R 420 per month as an account fee, you should think that FNB will look after their private clients, if that is the service i received, i feel pity for all the other clients who use FNB and trust a bank with their hard earned money.
