I wonder why it is helpfull at all to report ***** to FNB. On the 22/01/2023 an amount of R10570 was *****ed out of our account. It was a card transaction. It was done at 04:00 in the morning. At about 08:00 we noticed the transaction. Immediately reporred ***** and got ***-***. This transacion was pending and went through on 24/01/23. On 23/01/2023 I got a message from FNB stating that my profile has been blocked, no problem with that, it is understandable. So they acknowleged that they detected *****. Went to the branch, profile got reset after one assistant told me I needed a temporary card and this was deducted from the account. Another assistant said no, it wasn't necessary, it could have been bypassed. So, paid for the temporary card and a new one. Then FNB deducted R200 because the account didn't have enough money in. Just wonder it the system didn't show a case has been opened for *****? No sympathy from FNB for that.
I specifically asked them to put a hold on this transaction as it was still pending. Kevin Smith at the ***** department told me that they 1st need to investigate. So FNB you can't put a hold on it and then investigate? I see absolutely no sense in reporting ***** to FNB because the money is gone either way.
In my quest to find someone at FNB to help me, I chatted to David at the card department via the banking app and he said the expiry date of the "pending transaction" is 31/01/2023 and I should contact him on the 31st to reverse the transaction. Even got an email from him stating that I should phone him on the 31st. Nothing came of that and yesterday FNB sent an email stating that they are not responsible and there will be no refund.
Sorry FNB dont trust you with our money any more and will be closing our account. Yes, I know, you don'y care but none the less. Just wanted to put it out there. Phoned other banks like, Absa and Standard Bank to find out how they would have handled this and the answer I got, is that they would have put a hold on the transaction.
Really disappointed in FNB.
