Forex funds transfer disaster

<p>A month ago I offered to assist a Saffer friend to transfer money from a deceased legacy to her into her UK account. I went into the branch of FNB near my home and waited for an hour in order to be assisted by the consultant most versed in forex transactions. I sat at her desk while we entered the details of the foreign account including IBAN, SWIFT etc codes. The transaction was confirmed and I was told it would take a maximum of 7 days. My account was accordingly debited with the transaction fee and I communicated regularly with my friend in UK to check whether the funds were received</p> <p>A month has passed in which I had to contact the Forex department in Jhb to put on a trace. The funds were returned as apparently the receiving bank swift code was incorrect. The funds were then re-sent to another more international bank account and my account was again debited with a forex transaction fee but still the funds have not been received.</p> <p>I have been assisted by a very kind consultant but there have been no result ! The receiving bank keeps saying they cannot track the money and FNB says the money has been sent. In the meantime an entire month has passed since the funds were originally transferred. I wonder who is benefitting from the interest earned while these rather substantial funds are floating around in cyberspace</p> <p>A carrier pidgeon would have been more efficient and this in an age of technology.</p>
