Foreign Bank Card Swallowed by ATM wouldnt return
I work in New Delhi and was on holiday in South Africa utilising my Indian bank mastercard. My card was swallowed by an FNB atm machine in Ladysmith KZN, Caltex garage. The owner of the garage said i must go to Ladysmith FNB help desk? I did this and was informed that the service contract for the ATMs was a Durban based company. I explained my predicament as i had no cash and my Delhi bank would only be able to get me another card in a week. The ATM service company were'nt interested and told the FNB staff my card would be destroyed? Luckily i had family who could lend me money to return to Delhi, i had id could furnish my card ccv no etc as proof that it was my card yet FNB was not prepared to assist. 9000 kms from any help well done i shudder to think if i had no family and R150,00 in my wallet.

Ironically i had a similar experience a week prior at the Game centre when Standard Bank ATM swallowed my card and the branch managed to get the ATM service staff to remove my card and i collected it from the Standard Bank branch in Ladysmith two days later.
