FNBs poor management of unauthorised debit orders
I am quite disappointed with FNB at the moment. I had an unauthorised debit order this morning and tried to dispute it when I got back home. When I did this, there were a few things I was unhappy with:
1. I discovered that I am to be charged for disputing a debit order I did not authorise! Why is it my fault that their security is nonsense? Honestly! We put our money in banks because banks are supposed to be safer than your mattress at home but clearly its not since I'm also getting charged. I already pay monthly fees and now I have to pay them for something else???? 2. My attempts to dispute the debit order via online banking indicated that I could not dispute and therefore reverse the order, as there was an error - Something their system calls an "E-8573". This is particularly inconvenient. 3. So I obviously wouldn't know what kind of error "E-8573" is so I decided to contact their team of bankers, Only to be faced with additional disappointments; FNB has a Secure Chat that is supposed to make it easier for people who don't have endless amounts of airtime to wait for a call centre assistant to attend to them. However, it was not easy for me. Messages from the team of bankers were not coming through to me so that I could comprehend what was happening.
As I write this, my debit order has NOT been reversed because of what I am now perceiving to be poor service from FNB. I am also angry because I am aware that should the order be eventually reversed, I will be paying a fee I consider to be unwarranted, but what choice do I have as I would like to get my money back?
