FNB's lack of personal information protection.

I opened my daughter and my son's savings account more than a year ago. I deposit monies into it each account every month, but now all of a sudden, FNB decides to freeze my son's account because it is not FICA compliant! Strange how my daughter's account remains active. I have spoken to, two people via the secure messaging service and once to a woman on the phone. All of them basically said the same, firstly THEY cannot help, and secondly, I must now go through the whole FICA process again. Certified copies of ID's, proof of residence, not to mention a f#cking declaration from me to state that I do in fact reside at the address etc. etc. etc.

FNB's actions now lead me to believe that they have lost all previous FICA information I submitted over a year ago. How can I trust a bank to look after my monies if they lose important confidential documentation??

Another thing that ****es me off, is that no one communicates the issue. They just freeze the account and keep quiet.

I heard Capitec Bank knows what they are doing and seem to get the basics right, first time.......

Now FNB send me this....

"Dear MR TRISTAN M RICHMOND,

Re: Required tax information for MR MR TRISTAN M RICHMOND (UCN: ***1)

Please complete the following self-certification form as:

  • Your Tax Information is outstanding
At FNB, we aim to make banking with us hassle-free."

What a joke, they can't even read a complaint properly. They are asking my 11 year old son for his tax information!

UPDATE:

After many lengthy phone calls, multiple emails back and forth, FNB admitted to finding the documents I had already submitted two years ago!

This series of events and communication with multiply FNB help-desk operators, team leaders, supervisors and some staff who are working from home (children crying in the background) has left a very sour taste in my mouth.

My distrust in FNB's ability (or lack thereof) to manage personal information and then bumbling actions to rectify the situation have left me no option other than to open a new bank account with Capitec and begin the process of withdrawing/transferring all my monies out of FNB.

Case closed.
