FNB's inability to bill Debit Orders
I've been an FNB customer for the past 5-6 years and even recently moved to their premier banking option only to find that FNB has failed to bill me and instead opted to hand to Blake and Associates for who also failed to contact me.
More in depth statement on happenings. I got an Smartphone through FNB and have been paying it off since last year jan (2017). After realising I had a bottomless limit in the form of out of bundle usage I set a soft cap of R30 on the sim card. This was to avoid surprise bills. All of this is meant to be paid via debit order on the 1st of each month. On the first of each month I am constantly receiving notifications of debits going towards the smart device. Mid January 2018 I make an application for vehicle financing through Wesbank and I am approved but am not happy with the interest rate so I go to the bank on the 20th January to find out what we can do to get a lower interest rate. After 2 hours of assistance from the consultant we find out there is an outstanding amount of R51.15 which FNB connect had failed to bill me for since May 2017 however i still continue to receive airtime and data bundles every month. Lets take note that the amount allowed to go out-of-bundle has exceeded the limit set. I have not received and correspondence about an outstanding balance and in October my credit profile is converted to HIGH RISK status and the account handed to Blake and associates. Between the 20th and the 24th January I am sent on a wild goose chase by constulants at FNB, and Blake and Blake and associates. All I am interested in is clearing my balance and credit record. In an effort to prevent any further harm happening I personally transfer the amount and settle this outstanding balance through my FNB online banking account. I then follow up by calling FNB Connect and telling them to remove any out-of-bundle facility. The lady responds by telling me that she cannot completely eliminate the facility but she can set the limit to R1. I instruct her to and she does on the spot. I even receive an sms confirming this. Fast forward to today 12 February I am browsing through my accounts and find an outstanding amount on R11.15 on my account, more than the limit they had set themselves on my behalf.
1) I'm disgusted at the fact that FNB fails to bill money from an account they have access to between their departments. 2) I am appalled by the lack of transparency from such a huge financial institution that claims to put its customers first. 3)The mere fact that the company has the audacity to then smear my credit record and pass me on to their attorneys who also display the same incompetence. 4) The fact that even after I have attempted to resolve the situation, FNB then carries on the same behaviour of inaccurate billings and more so them exceeding limits set by customs. At the customer's expense.
I have been going through a very very bad experience with them and have received little to no remorse regarding the matter. I am a premier banking customer and expect to get good service for our overly exorbitant bank charges. This is clearly an internal error within FNB and their Departments and I encourage all customers be weary before getting in bed with them.
