FNB's help or lack of it

1. Bank your change:

I opened a gold encore cheque account on the 14th of March this year and selected the 'bank your change' option - with R2 added to the small change.

From the bank statement I see there was nothing relating to this. Nothing was taken from the cheque account and deposited into the linked savings account. Why? Was this option 'cancelled' ?

Using the cellphone app, I could access this 'bank your change' option but no more. It looks like it was removed altogether.

When I sent a query around the 14th of April, the consultant who contacted me informed me that this feature was not activated but it is now sorted out.

Guess what? It was not sorted out.

On 28/04/2020 I sent another email. FNB’s response was an email with query reference ***Q. To date FNB has not come back to me.

This feature is still not active.

Obviously I am not losing anything here. It’s only my money being moved around a bit. But why promise a feature that does not get activated? And tell me it is activated when it clearly is not?

2. ebucks

I opened a gold encore cheque account on the 14th of March this year.

When I log into online banking, it shows I do not qualify for ebucks. Why is that?

According to the ebucks website it appears I qualify:

Point 1.2: minimum deposit of R3500

Point 2. Surely both accounts are in order.

Point 3. Logging into the cell app once a month. I log into the app more than once a week.

I have sent FNB two emails regarding ebucks. No response from FNB. On 28/04/2020 I sent another email. FNB’s response was an email with query reference ***Q.

I received text messages on my phone telling me the ebucks account is activated and I must visit the ebucks website to see how I can get rewards (maximise my rewards pretty much).

The very next day, FNB took away the ebucks account. So, clearly I do not qualify for ebucks.

The amounts involved (rewards or whatever) are less than R50 I think so pretty pointless getting exited about. I’m certainly not going to open various FNB accounts / credit cards and spend myself into debt up to my eyebrows just to get a reward of R100 or so from FNB.

These two problems are trivial so not much to get concerned about. The concern is: what if I have a real problem. Is this the haphazard help I can expect from FNB?
