FNB's Delayed and Unfair Response Exposes their Vulnerable Security Systems
On May 29th, Voter's Day, I fell victim to online *****. My entire bank account was drained through several quick transactions, all done without needing my in-app approval. This was accomplished using my virtual FNB card, which has a periodically changing CVV for security. Despite these measures, the *****sters bypassed all safeguards, highlighting how vulnerable our money can be.
FNB claims that the *****sters obtained my details from a link in a one-time pin SMS regarding Apple Pay, which they allege I clicked and connected to my FNB wallet. However, I don't use Apple Pay and would ignore such an SMS. Additionally, my SMS messages are protected by fingerprint authentication, so no one else can access them. I've never wanted, requested, signed up for, or used FNB Wallet. It was added without my consent or desire. As a result, I wouldn't consider activating or using FNB Wallet. This incident shows how vulnerable the FNB banking system is to having its security measures bypassed.
The ****** money was transferred to an account named Kembang Kunir.
I immediately reported the *****ulent activity to FNB, but their investigation process takes 14 working days, allowing the ********s to potentially get away with the money.
I tried to get FNB to stop or block the pending transactions, but I was unsuccessful because they require a 7 to 14 day investigation. If they had responded to my request sooner, they could have prevented it, and my money would still be in my account.
FNB does not want to refund me. How is that fair? It is not.
