FNB's Declining Service and Complete Lack of Customer Support
I have been an FNB customer for years, but I'm deeply disappointed by how they've handled my situation. Their declining trust ratings across multiple platforms now make perfect sense to me.
For months, I have been struggling financially and have repeatedly approached FNB to discuss restructuring options or payment arrangements. Despite my proactive efforts to find solutions, I've received no meaningful assistance. Throughout this entire period, I have continued to make my payments, even when it meant significant personal sacrifice.
Today I discovered that FNB has been progressively reducing my overdraft facility due to affordability concerns, without a single notification or conversation with me. This lack of communication is concerning enough, but what's more troubling is the cycle it creates: they deduct payments that strain my budget, which worsens my financial position, which then leads to further reductions in available credit. Each action compounds the problem rather than helping to resolve it.
As a single father on a single income, I expected my bank to work with me during difficult times, not to implement changes that make my situation harder without even informing me. The lack of transparency and unwillingness to discuss alternatives has been genuinely distressing.
I understand banks need to manage risk, but surely there's a better way than unilateral decisions without customer notification. I'm now considering what options are available to me, including seeking advice from consumer protection services.
I hope FNB reconsiders how they treat customers facing financial difficulties.
Would I recommend FNB? Not based on my experience.
