FNB/PAYPAL FIASCO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately, Hello Peter does not allow for a 0 star rating, as this is actually what I would give to FNB.

I have money coming in from the UK on a monthly basis, being paid to PayPal and then (as FNB hold the right to PayPal in south Africa) into FNB.

This being said, someone paid an amount of R300 into the FNB account, which was used to register a business for them with CIPC. Upon us receiving the fund from PayPal, we transferred it as per normal, only to find out, that when it cleared in the FNB account, the account was put on hold and refereed to ***** division.

Needless to say, I do understand that banks have to be vigilant regarding any ***** with today's environment.

So the R300 paid into the account apparently came from a ********** transaction, and once again, I understand that the banks have to investigate these sort of transactions.

That all being said, here is my issue. 1. FNB did not contact us to bring under our attention that the R300 was ********** 2. FNB did not mark the R300 as part of a ***** investigation, but rather opted to freeze the account in totality 3. The investigating officer at FNB, then went on leave, leaving no one to handle any queries on his work. 4. As soon as we realized the funds were not available, we contacted FNB 5. At first, no one could give us any information regarding this issue 6. Upon eventually finding out a day later that there is an alleged ***** transaction that was done, we contacted FNB ***** department 7. FNB ***** department then took about 3 hours to find out that the investigating officer is on leave 8. We were then informed that only he can sort this issue out. 9. We managed to get hold of the investigating officer's manager's name and tried to contact them, with no luck whatsoever 10. We managed to get hold of the manager's manager name and tried to contact them, once again with no luck whatsoever. 11. We then managed to get hold of the manager's managers' manager's number (please note this is now 3 managers already), once again with no luck whatsoever.

It is just amazing how FNB, who is one of the biggest banks in South Africa, cannot even help a person with a small problem.

I think their service is horrible to say the least, and yet I am forced to work with them because of PayPal.

IT SEEMS THAT THEIR CUSTOMERS LIVELIHOOD IS OF NO IMPORTANCE TO THEM!!

Take a lesson from Capitec Bank, whom I normally bank with. I had a problem with a customer who made a case against me, they put a hold of the exact funds in question, and made the balance available. I saw what happened, contacted the customer with the complaint, paid him back his money and the balance of the funds was released (PLEASE NOTE, THEY DID NOT FREEZE THE ACCOUNT, ONLY THE AMOUNT IN QUESTION)

That is what a bank should do. The customer cannot and should not be punished by freezing his/her account , rather put a hold on the exact amount of the reported problem. Its like the law making a case against you for ******, *****, theft, grievous bodily harm and every thing else, when all you did was speed on the highway.

No wonder FNB only has a 1.51 rating on Hello Peter and a Trust Rating of 3.4.
