FNB will not close my inactive credit card account

I app**** for a credit card at FNB about a year ago and although the application was not fully finished, a credit card account was opened and showed on my app. This account has been inactive and basically useless because it has no limit, I cannot transact on it and I have no card. However, I had ignored it as I had no time to deal with it, until I accidentally transferred money into it the 1st time. I called fnb, explained the situation and asked them to close the account, I was told I had to send an email with that request. I did that and in a few days the money was transferred back into my cheque account but the account was still open.

A few weeks ago I then accidentally transferred money into this account again and I sent a similar email on the 23rd of November to the exact same email address with exactly the same request and I got an auto response with a reference number. I believe I was told it would take about 7 working days. It had passed over 2 weeks and I still hadn’t received any feedback from fnb.

I therefore had to call them and send numerous emails. I even called and logged an official complaint with fnb and got yet another reference number. I was told I’d get a response in 48 hours , I did not. Everyone I called and spoke to had no explanation or resolution for me, all I was told to do was wait or send even more emails. It’s close to 3 weeks now and I have not gotten my money back and the account is still open. This is holding me back from reapplying for a fresh credit card. Worst part is when I call some consultants tell me that the card is closed when in fact it is not!

This is so frustrating and infuriating and inconvenient! The least they could do is give me feedback on what’s wrong and how long it will take but instead they keep giving me the run around!!
