FNB - why are you not offering extra relief? - no one asked for COVID to come destroy our lives
Not sure where to start!
However one word - covid. I am currently a private wealth client with fnb. Been with fnb since a child with my bob card that I was so proud of. Anyhow.. When covid hit our country I found myself in a predicament whereby I work in the Tourism Hospitality Sector and I am a commission earner.
When approaching my FNB banker he said no bank holidays only covid cash relief - so a loan I had to take to cover my home loan and credit card payment. Let me mention the paperwork involved to get this done anyhow -3 months relief offered and put me under more strain thereafter to pay off a loan. Meanwhile my friends and colleagues who are with other banks got 6 month payment holiday no questions asked. They get emails asking if they need further relief.
For my vehicle finance (not with fnb) after 3 months payment holiday - they offered me a step up plan where by for the following 3 months you pay 50% one month 60% the other and 75% the last other just to relieve the hardship covid times.
We never knew covid was going to end up taking us to a slow and long journey to recover.
I than called my fnb banker and said I cant afford a top up on my covid relief loan and things are going to get worse.
So he took it to the credit committee and after more paperwork, I got relief for another 3 months.
By December we were looking up with international travel coming back into SA. Until OUR PRESIDENT announced that we going back to level 3.. I received cancellation after cancellation for the bookings I made for my hotel group. I earn commission on bookings I make.
I therefore, called my banker stating I am worried I am not going to make ends meet can I ask the bank what they going to do for us under level 3. So more paper work - expenditure list submitted. (After all expenses I was left with R6000 to feed a family of 4 for the month excluding toiletries).when I told him it will be the bare min comm work out and if I dont get comm and just a basic due to covid. I will only have R2000 left for the month.
I was told by my Banker that his checked through my list and his not going to go to the credit committee and waste his time - as they will tell him to tell me that we need to change our lifestyle of living. He told me to: Sell our boat Dont shop at woolworths go to checkers Etc etc After I actually dropped in lifestyle already.
After he said lets look and see what we can do?
Why can fnb not be like other banks - why not offer a step up plan. No one asked to go back to level 3 regulations...
Who else has had issues?
