FNB Visa 'contactless' card ***** - no update from FNB
I'm from SA, but was pick-pocketed in Athens on the subway train. I cancelled my FNB Visa credit card within 15 minutes of the incident because the FNB online mobile app is badly designed and quite difficult to use for anyone in a disorientated state, yet still over R3100 was taken from the FNB VISA card within this time without the *****sters having access to my card PIN. On the contrary, no money was taken from my Nedbank Mastercard or American Express cards because the Nedbank mobile app is really simple to use and I was able to disable those cards within 5 minutes of the incident. Further to the money being ****** from the FNB Visa card, the amounts exceeded the 'contactless' card limit, and the FNB card allowed multiple taps on the *****sters device within a very short period of time for the same amounts each time. On top of all this, the 'tap to pay' feature cannot even be disabled on FNB cards, they only can be disabled on cards belonging to every other SA bank. I will be ending my relationship with FNB and highly encourage you to do the same as FNB exposes their customers to *****ulent activity as I've described above. Even though I have a case investigation number from FNB, there has been no feedback whatsoever. Is this chain of events something I can bring to the ombudsman's attention?
