FNB virtual card *****. "I WANT MY MONEY BACK"

On the 26th November I was a victim of *****. While at work i saw a notification come through on my banking app that an amount of R10 000 was deducted at Woolworths Sandton. I called FNB ***** immediately and they advised it was processed via the virtual card and had me cancel the card online with them. Today they told me that my claim has been rejected. The reason they gave was that "In order for the FNB contactless card transaction to be processed, a registered/ l inked device was used behind a secure login". I find this totally unacceptable as I have never used the virtual card service. I always pay using my debit card. How did the perpetrators get my information. There was no OTP or authorization request for the transaction. I don't shop at Woolworths. My past transactions would indicate that as well if you done proper investigations. You can request camera footage from Woolworths for the date and time of the transaction and you will find I was not in the store. FNB will insist it takes all precautions to avoid such but what precautions are in place to avoid such. I will be taking this further with the ombudsman. I will also ensure I close my bank account with FNB and I will make sure all my friends, family and co workers close their FNB accounts as well after hearing my horrific experience with FNB.

Reviewer Update

I am not happy and satisfied with the outcome. Seems the security measures put in place from FNB is not up to standard and does not protect the consumer.
I have already escalated the matter to the banking ombudsman landing.
Please be advised I will be closing my bank account with FNB. I will ensure my wife, siblings and parents move to another due to FNB security measures and unwillingness to reimburse a valued client who has been with them for over 15 years.
Word of mouth is a strong tool used to spread the word. I will be doing just that with all my ****orkers (I have 25 employees who report to me and most of them use FNB), friends and associates. I will be posting on all social media platforms as well.
