FNB violates POPI act. Beware.
I have been banking with FNB since 2004. In 2016, I opened a business account for 2 months in order to receive PayPal payments for a Non Profit Organisation that I was assisting. Thereafter, I formally closed the business account.
FNB has been hassling me every since to update the business FICA details and are threatening to close my accounts. I have told them on numerous occasions that I am no longer associated with the NPO and that the business information on file is no longer relevant to my person and that I am no longer relevant to the NPO.
Still without fail, once a week I receive an SMS and I have endless telephone conversations with FNB staff who re-assure me that they will remove the business informatoin off my personal profile. And without fail, the next week, I am subjected to the same *****ic process of endless phone calls and empty promises.
It is unfortunate, that FNB that prides itself as the most forward looking innovative bank, can't execute a simple process of removing three lines of information out of my profile.
If I am not mistaken, FNB is violating the POPI act, as they don't know what the information is, what its relevance is, where the information is, and how to remove it upon the customer's very explicit request.
If I have to have this conversation one more time with FNB, I shall be moving my own personal banking and that of my children to a competing bank.
END.
