FNB violated my rights by sharing my contacts with another client

On Saturday the 29th of September, my husband received a payment of R28 000 into his FNB account. On the same Sunday, he transferred me R24 000 into my FNB Account as he usually does when he has money. At that moment, there was no concern as there's already someone who owes him money.

On Monday the 30th, he got a call from FNB that someone has accidentally deposited money via ATM in his account. He told FNB that he had an impression that the person had already paid him hence he used the money.

The main concern or me to write this letter is that we have a concern with FNB as I received numerous calls and WhatsApp messages from the person who claims that he's the one who wrongly deposited the money into my account. By the way, the money was never deposited into my account but my husband's. If FNB managed to share my contact number with another client, what else have they shared with my them? My work or physical address? This has not put my life in danger but the family as well.

We need answers as to why FNB shared my personal information with other clients. FNB is one of the biggest financial institutions and they are supposed to know better regarding consumer rights and data protection before they share my information with other clients.

Now, it looks like FNB is going to proceed with legal action again my husband, but the problem is that they have already violated my rights? How do we recover from all this? My husband has no issues with returning the money, but he an agreement must be drawn that explains the payment terms and conditions. After all he did not commit any crime. Who deposit money incorrectly in an ATM currently?

We have however taken this up with my lawyer. Any proceedings will be communicated.
