FNB unwanted upgrade charges and poor service

Hi,

I was contacted about upgrading to a private clients in January 2019. Firstly, I mailed back to ask questions or arrange a phone call (I am not in SA) and it took ages and many emails prompting a response before I received anything back. I then asked to confirm that the account management fee was R385 and if so to please NOT proceed with the upgrade as I am working overseas and do not receive my salary to my FNB account.

I received no response to this and was upgraded and subsequently charged. I mailed again, twice, and was promised a refund on 08/02/2019. This has not been received.

Further, the account fee that had been deducted had left me with less in my account that was needed to pay my direct debits. I was then charged a declined transaction fee SIX times as the company tried to take the payment from my account. I do not get notifications as I am overseas and have to check regularly to keep up to date and transfer money if I know there will be a payment going off that exceeds my balance.

Further, I have now been charged an account fee of R128.33 as opposed to my usual rate of R25.70. I am guessing that my account type has been switched in the process of downgrading me from the upgrade I declined.

Your private banker has again not responded to any of my queries.

I need some answers and to be refunded for services that I have not used. I expect a prompt response.

Holly
