FNB Unprofessional Staff and unfriendly banking terms

For the fact, that FNB displays the image as being a highly prestigious serious bank, I have unfortunately learnt the opposite. Today's review is not only based on my current negative experience but unfortunately, past negative experiences too. This is just the tipping point. I have a cheque account, two kids cheque accounts, two business accounts, savings and FNB connect. The reason for having all of the above at one bank is due to conveniency, or at least I thought. My recent experience is as follows: I deposited a cheque at the FNB bank, of which I was advised to do this at the bank teller. After depositing the cheque, I received a little slip stating that I have authorised FNB to deposit the funds into my account. This was a Wednesday. Thinking that the funds will be disbursed within 24-48 hours, I did not worry, or contact FNB, and spend the other funds on other open nonurgent business invoices thinking in the back of my mind that the new funds of about 50 000 K on the cheque would arrive on my account anytime, so I could pay for other business services, wages, bills etc... On Monday I saw that amount of money is under "balance" but not available. As a result, I sent a complaint since there were no funds available on my account, inquiring why this is the case. I was informed that the cheque takes ten days to clear. I, of course, was shocked and could not believe that the staff did not notify me of the procedure. When inquiring why they did not do this, and why this is not written anywhere on the slip, they said they do not know why. I informed them that this is urgent and that I cannot wait ten days for a cheque to clear, especially because I have immediate payments to make, causing a huge predicament! They said there was nothing they could do. I informed them that even funds from overseas come within 1-3 working days, which I know very well since I have a business there too and occasionally transfer funds. They informed me that there WAS a possibility of doing an immediate cheque clearance for a fee of 130 Rand. I was outraged and could not believe that this would have been an option and that no one informed me. Especially since this is the first time in my life, to deposit a cheque. So, day ten arrived, still no funds, I called again. They said it is on my account; I informed them that it is under "balance" not "available". They again said there is nothing they can do, but contact the original bank the cheque was issued. I asked them what that bank has to do with the current information because FNB is holding my money, not the bank where the cheque was issued... They then told me to the FNB Branch. I informed them that I am a working professional and that I do not have time the whole day to go to FNB branches, and inquired for what they are advertising their online banking system if I have to go to an FNB branch. I called the complaints department, who then informed me that there was a misunderstanding, but the funds will only be available in ten working days, not counting the two weekends in between. Others may think it is logic, but I have received funds on Saturday and Sunday too. After inquiring about the cheque procedures in other banks, I have learned that the cheque clearance only takes 24 hours to 4 days to clear. I also found similar reviews online about the FNB procedures, so I do not seem to be alone. But this is not the point. My point is, why are the FNB staff so unprofessional. They have to inform clients of their terms and conditions upon using their services. I have been in an incredible predicament because of this. Imagine, you "have" the funds, but it is not available on your account to use, damaging me and my business reputation due to negligence.
