FNB unable to process a simple once-off R590 credit card payment - *********** staff
I've been a client of FNB for many years. I have multiple accounts and investments with them so you would think paying an annual fee of R590 to renew my anti-virus software license would be a straightforward process especially given that I've used the same software company for the last 5 years. Apparently, FNB doesn't believe it should a straightforward process. So I thought that a query would lead to a swift response. How naive have to remind them with a complaint that you sent them a query - the 24 to 48 hr response referred to in their automated response clearly is not a timeline the FNB employees take seriously. So the first response was, they resolved the query and I could proceed with the transaction - not true. They only action they wanted was to close the complaint and tick a box - the payment couldn't go through. So I tried a second time, this time they wanted to be online with me to talk me through the process - in other words, they still couldn't find the person in FNB who could authorise the payment. SO what I've learnt is that being a FNB premiere client with a personal banker makes no difference to their non-existent customer service. They will still lie to you to get you to stop asking them to assist with your transaction. Secondly, they will flood you with emails with automated responses and reference numbers but they will still not resolve your query. Lastly, the left hand in FNB doesn't know what the right hand is doing so no-one takes responsibility to take action and resolve a query promptly. Long story short, eventually I couldn't pay with my FNB premier card so I had to find another way to renew my subscription.
