FNB treatment
Here us a scenario: It's Friday evening, I get an sms from FNB that my account will be placed on hold, . Since it's way past working hours, I can't call the bank and I realize also that I cant perform any form of transaction on my account. I had a funeral to go to, and I found out at the garage that I can't use my card. I wait until the ***** department opens at 8am. I call and given a reason for the freeze: reason, there were two large sums that were deposited into my account. No prior warning. No courtesy call. No contact whatsoever from FNB. Now, I'm told that I need to submit proof of source of where the funds came from. One is clearly my salary, and this was the 2nd month of deposit. The 2nd was from my other account with another bank, clearly with my full names and ID as reference.
I don't mind FNB systems, but that sabotage in terms of just freezing the account at odd hours when you can't call them, and the fact that there was no attempt from FNB to call and warn me of what was about to happen if I didn't do 1, 2, 3...
Now I have forwarded all the proof, I'm told the case will be escalated to another department, with a turnaround time of up to 48 hrs. This means my bond, car, insurance etc debit orders won't go through because someone decided to freeze my account. This in turn will obviously tint my credit record, affecting my future financial situation, all because someone decided to freeze my legitimate account without warning, on Friday evening, on month end, with Monday being a holiday. We wait.
