FNB To ABSA EFT Payment: Money Not In Account
On Thursday 11 June 2015 I received what appeared to be a legitimate SMS payment notification from FNB for a payment into my ABSA account from an individual supposedly with an FNB account. The payment was for a private sale of goods which I advertised on an online classifieds website. Having received said payment notification, I allowed the buyer to take ownership of the goods in good faith that the payment will reflect in my account once the transaction has been cleared. However, to date the payment is not yet reflected in my account and I have been growing increasingly concerned that I may have been ****med with a ********** payment notification. My efforts to query this matter with FNB by visiting a local branch were met with the response of wait and see if the payment clears. This is completely appalling and unacceptable customer service.

FNB should be able to verify if the payment notification I received is legitimate and was generated and sent by them. Surely, there must be a way to tell if the number from which I received the notification is one that is used by FNB for that purpose. Furthermore, if the notification is legitimate, then why is the money not yet in my account?
