FNB - The worst banking institution I ever came across
Hi, I am so disappointed to say the least. I have been a client with FNB since they were Barclays. I was 18yrs old at the time. I am now 63 (for 45yrs I have been a loyal client). I have had my bank account compromised twice in November 2023. First ***** took place 6th Nov R2,934.89 bank card info used in Thailand. I live in Cape Town. The Second incident happened on 30th Nov just after my salary was paid into my account for the amount of R5,732.66 this time at a restaurant in Kuala Lumpur apparently using my "virtual card" which I have never used. Fnb refunded the first money for R2,934.89 but they are now saying "Based on their findings" they are not going to refund me for the second incident because, the first reason was that a virtual card is in a "secure locked vault" and cannot be accessed (according to me, not secure at all, how was it accessed then, an inside job?, now I'm told that an OTP was needed to approve that transaction. Well I never received any OTP and why in the world would I approve a transaction for something I had no knowledge of and for someone in Kuala Lumpur? I am downright mad at them that they would treat a client of 45yrs this way. I explained t the guy I was the sole breadwinner in my home supporting my parents and a brother. That money was taken from my bank overdraft which means I have to pay Fnb that money. What do I do? Take them to court? There are lots other cases I am aware of that happened to Fnb client's accounts being hacked in November and December. It's all over social media.
