FNB - The worst bank for expats and those travelling abroad

Another year as an expat, yet again my account has been made inactive while FNB deducts fees every month. I needed to make an urgent transfer 5 days ago and I am unable to due to inactivity even though i log into my account every month.

Please explain to me why bank accounts are not made inactive in the US, Europe or Asia. Why is this 3 month of no use of your atm card leads to account shutdown a policy for banks in South Africa???? It's my money and i cannot access my account because of some backward 3rd world policy while at the same time the bank is taking out fees,

I email the branch manager for assistance (as this same problem has happened before) this time an auto-reply "I will be back in the office on the 16th" "for emergency please contact so and so" I email so and so and no reply. AGAIN I SPEND FORTUNES ON INTERNATIONAL PHONE CALLS ( I WANT A REFUND FOR MY TIME WASTED CALLING YOUR BS HELPLINE)

Was advised to make a simple deposit to re activate my account. I ask my mother to go the bank to make a deposit into my account so it will be reactivated. (HOW RIDICULOUS that this is the "solution"

But no!!! This time it doesn't work because the the bank teller refuses. And so i receive emails to give "delegation of authority" of my account to my mother. So as an expat i have to give complete authority and signing power to my account to my mother?? How ridiculous?!! Why is FNB's service for expats made so complicated. Why cant a simple phone call suffice to get an account reactivated?????

So.. I sign the documents, send them back, still no activation of my account after 2 days. In the email, there is a phone number included. I phone and just like a year ago the same thing happens "this number does not exist". How can this bank be so useless?

Im fed up with FNB and will never bank with them again. Absolutely disgraceful
