FNB - THE AGEIST BANK

My mum (73) has just sold her ( bond free) house and purchased another at a lower price. Transfer date of November 2nd. She went to her FNB branch yesterday to ask for a small loan against the proceeds of her sold property (money that is coming into FNB account in 6 weeks time) - this is to cover moving expenses. Her request was declined. Two reasons were given:
1 She is too old - it is a policy that FNB do not loan money to anyone over 65
2 As she has never had a loan or credit cards - she has no credit history

Really FNB? A six week loan guaranteed by the attorney handling her house sale. This would have been the safest loan that you could ever have made
