FNB TAKES INCOMPETANCY TO THE HIGHEST LEVEL
As someone who brings foreign investment into South Africa every month, I am appalled at the level of incompetency, disrespect and dishonesty I have receive from FNB and the words "third world" comes to mind.
Many of my complaints/ queries have never been answered.
Last year in July I updated my profile on the FNB App to reflect my new residential address. Todate my current bank statements still reflect my old address.
The FNB App at most times does work as I have to attempt 2 to 3 times to make a payment.
Nothing seems to work at FNB
Last year in December FNB deducts my direct debits on the 15 December instead of the 28th December nearly 2 weeks early.
At the same time they hold on to one my payments from Europe for 27 hours. My payment from Europe appeared in my account before midnight on the 15th December and the funds should have been available in my account after midnight in the early hours of the 16th December. FNB holds on to payment for the next 27 hours and only releases the funds in the early hours of the 17th December. The 16th of December was a public holiday AND most important FNB shows dishonesty and disrespect for customers bring in foreign investment money into South Africa.
I also receive every 4 weekly a payment via forex from Europe. I should have received the payment last Friday. My payments from Europe are made earlier in order that I receive the payment in my account on the agreed date which is a legal requirement in Europe. I will be lucky to receive this money this week on either Tuesday or Wednesday. When I querried this with FNB they responded that they authorise the Forex payments on the date received. REALLY everybody knows that FNB sits with Forex as long as possible in order to make as much interest.
Something that amazes me is that FNB is not even numerate. FNB cannot even tell me what my annual income is. This is apparent on FNB's " Track your Shortfalls", I have absolutely no idea where FNB gets these figures as it does not reflect my incoming payments.
I am also amazed that FNB believes that they are a bank of international status.
When I contact my bank in Europe which is very seldom, the service is excellent. You speak to one customer advisor who assists and sorts out your query.
Try contacting FNB. You are lucky if FNB even answers the phone. If you do get through, you are either put on hold or either passed from one advisor to another until you are cut off. Total waste of airtime.
If you get a telephonic response regarding a complaint/query from a FNB customer advisor, be guaranteed that most of the time you receive poor quality lip service. It does not bother FNB staff that they cannot answer and don't even understand your complaint/query. Nothing ever comes of when they tell you that they will escalate the complaint/ querry to a higher level.
If you receice a written response from FNB, you are very likely to get an answer that does not answer your complaint/ query and also not even numerate on occasions.
Literacy, numeracy and telephonic skills are not a requirement within FNB.
FNB does have a habit of taking direct debits from your account earlier than stated date. In February and March this year both my direct debits were taken out earlier as the direct debit date fell on a Saturday. But yet FNB at the same time deducted a temporary loan payment on a Sunday.
NOTHING MAKES SENSE AT FNB
My advice to anybody wishing to bring foreign capital into South Africa, DO NOT USE FNB. All you will receive is incompetency, dishonesty and disrespect.
