FNB takes from consumers gives nothing
A year ago I app**** for a building loan of 150k to extend onto the property because the house became too small for my family. I was declined under the reason \you can't afford it"- this would have been R1500 per month linked to the existing bond. I was however approved on a overdraft facility (90k) and credit card (140k). Interest alone on the facility is R3500 per month - doesn't make sense does it? Some research later revealed the Basil 3 system where banks are incentivized by the Reserve Bank for short terms higher risk loans (which will result in a unsecure lending bubble. Finished building a couple of weeks ago and now starting repayment. Saw almost 4k missing out of my credit card and while I'm puling statements and trying to find out if my card was perhaps cloned I get a sms due to responsible lending we've adjusted your credit limit. I received no notification about this prior. When I queried it with the credit card department the \""manager\"" said that \""The bank was kind enough to lend you the money\"" - KIND ENOUGH!!!!??? I am paying almost double on interest alone. So they can reduce my limit as I make payments leaving me with no cash flow? Does the CPA not protect us here"""
