FNB Supporting Crime in South Africa
Dear FNB I would like to thank you for your atrocious and inappropriate manner in which my ***** case was handled. It became very clear that FNB do not even live up to their slogan “how can we help you”. I was a victim of crime on 19 February 2019, whereby I was kidnapped, assaulted and lost more than R86 000 in ********** transactions on both my credit and cheque account. During the incident I was forced to give my pin numbers and login details to the perpetrators because I was threatened with my life. I am very clear on the fact that FNB warns the public on not to give out any personal information, pin numbers and login details, but clearly in an incident like this, FNB value a pin number and login details more than a human life. Even though I have sent through all the required documentation and SAP Case number to the ***** department on 20 February 2019, it was merely brushed off by FNB with a pathetic phone call on 25 February 2019 to inform me that they are done with the investigation, it is a matter for the police, and that the money will not be recovered. I have the following questions: Did FNB not even took the time to suspect suspicious consumer behaviour on the afternoon of 19 February 2019? Did FNB considered my transaction behaviour over a period of time? If you are in a life threatening situation and a victim of crime, does a pin number take preference over a person’s life? If it is the case, FNB plays a secondary role in this crime. Did FNB even contact the retailers to confirm if it was actually me doing the transactions? Did FNB survey the camera footage at the ATM’s where the withdrawals were made, to confirm whether it was me? You are really an institution which I will not promote with regards to banking, financial service, assistance, and customer service. Thank you FNB for supporting crime in South Africa!
Dzunisani,
I lost count, but im thinking we are on email nr 14 or 15 filled with "we will come back to you" and the rest of the gaps are filled with darkness and silence. Similar to what happend to me on 19 Feb 2019. Only difference between FNB an the culprates were physical and emotional assualt.
I expect my ****** funds, interest lost and bank fees which yo so gladly take each time, to be returned into my bank account by Friday 31 May 2019 at 11:00 in the morning.
I have already contacted another financial service provider to take over my bank accounts, set service fees (lower than fnb), a much lower homeloan interest rate, which will save me upto 7 years of repayment, and mind blowing vehicle finance. (Keeping in mind it includes my homeloan, and future wesbank transactions.) And this was all done within a few minutes on the internet.
It is really sad that after being a customer to FNB for almost 30 years, that i receive such appalling and disgusting service.
Please keep in mind my previous email to you, and the pathetic ***** department, of Carte Blanche and my lawyer. I will stand up to *******ion and treating valued customers like ******* from FNB.
This is not a threat.
This letter will be posted on every social media platform which I can find. I accept no additional charges to any of my accounts until this matter is resolved by Friday 31 May 11:00.

Good morning
Background:
On 19 Feb 2019, at approximately 13:30 I parked my vehicle at the Engin Garage in Walker street, Sunnyside Pretoria. An unknown African male entered my vehicle and forced me to drive. He took me to a nearby Flat, where the vehicle was parked and I was forced to enter a flat. The person locked me in a room, and after a few minutes 3 other african males entered the room, demanding me that I have to give my bank cards, pins and banking details, threaten that they will kill me. 2 African males then left the room and I was hold hostage for approximately 3 hours. I was released at about 16:30 without my cards.
The cards that they took was my cheque/debit card and my credit card.
I have cancelled my cards after I have been taken to the hospital.
Call reference number RT***2 & Case number which the FNB consultant gave me 2***
20/2/2019
I went to Sunnyside Police Station to report the incident.
Police Case nr 680/2/2019
Constable KP ****e ***. Invesigating Officer PF Madutung ***
I have printed out all the transactions which were done during the time of the incident. The police requested that I should accompany them to Sunnypark Shopping Centre, where some of the transactions were made. We have visited Sportscene and Truworths. There are no security cameras within the two stores. We have also visited Centre Security and they indicated that the entire shopping centre surveillance cameras were not working.
The police officer given his contact details to both of the stores management (Truworths and Sportscene).
We then left the shopping centre and went to the Engin Garage to determine if they have camera footage. It was discovered that where my vehicle was parked there are no cameras on that area. After that we went to the block of flats to see if I can remember anything or locate the flat. The flat was identified and the police officers entered the flat. There were 2 people, who were the owners of the flat. They indicated that the sub-let the rooms. I have explained to the police officer how the room looked inside. The police officer managed to look through the top window above the door and indicated that it was the room as I have described. Thereafter the police officer received a call from the Truworths Manager that the suspect was in the store, and we returned to the store.
The police captured 2 African males, and I could positively identify the one suspect.
The police will be in contact with me during the investigation.
Kind regards
Christian Nel

Should you believe your card was retained by the ATM, cancel your card immediately on a FNB ATM with your valid ID Number
Always cover your one hand with the other hand while keying in the PIN and stand close to the ATM using your body as a shield to protect your card and PIN
A PIN number (Personal Identity Number) is the key to accessing any account and should be kept safe and secret at all times. Do not write "PIN" on the back of the card or keep the card and PIN together, or store the PIN on your cell phone
Never disclose your PIN number to anyone - not even relatives, friends or a bank official
Never accept help from strangers at ATMs
Do not select a PIN that is easily identifiable, i.e. same as your date of birth or ID number
Only insert the card and PIN when the ATM prompts you to do so and press the CANCEL button for safety if the screen is unfami****. Don't allow anyone to call you back to the ATM after transacting!
Never let your card out of your sight when transacting at a merchant
Ensure that you always get your own card back after transacting at an ATM or merchant
